Cut that one lose . What about mpg towing and not?

I guess I got about 8-9mpg towing with the 1500 maybe 9-10 with the 2500?  It’s basically a wash- BUT the 2500 has a 36 gallon tank. That’s really a big deal when towing. I typically get 500 miles per tank in the new truck- (I fill up around 450 but it’s not empty yet...).  When not towing- let’s just say this, the 1500 kills it. Well over 20 if you are on a trip.  The 2500- more like 15 avg.
I really can’t stress enough what a difference it is towing my camper. It just feels much safer, more stable, like it’s not having to try to hard.

Yep big tank makes a difference towing. My 09 Duramax has a mid 20’s tank and it’s a pain looking not only for a station but also a diesel pump. My town has 8 stations, 3 carry diesel and only one you can get a big trailer to the pump. My last 1500 was a 2010 5.3 it only got 17 so I’m jumping up and down having a HD getting 15-17 . My duramax best tank was 16.6 average 14.5 . Always single digits towing

I bought a 2500 because , you only live once and there aren’t many instances where the wife lets you spend the tax return in one spot.

I love the 2500, but it is so overkill for me towing a 3500 lift trailer only occasionally, camping way deep in the woods four or five times a year. I’m trying to see if I can daily this, coming from a 1995 k2500 Suburban...

I’d say, it’s exactly what you’d expect: you didn’t buy it for gas mileage; you didn’t buy it for ride quality because it’s as stiff as hell; you didn’t buy it to parallel park because that ain’t happening; you didn’t buy it to daily...

But you’re happy with it for every bad ass aspect possible. It has plenty of power. The looks of the grill are growing on me... the thing COULD pull a house, or a boat, which is really what we want to be ready for - the possibility of bringing home a boat, quads, big trailer...

I want the right that’ll get me to a boat!

And... the wife really does like it. Date night in the 2500!!! Yeah buddy.

(had to edit this - writing it deep into a few beers at the local dive has its ups and downs...)

I have had at least a 3/4 ton since 2010 for my daily.  My daily is now a 3500 DRW.  I love how these big trucks drive, loaded or unloaded, especially the diesels.  They just feel like more substantial trucks.  I do not really even enjoy driving the 1500s anymore and would not go back.  I say if you want one, get one.

I guess you and I are the "weird" ones.  I couldn't go back to a 1500 if I wanted to.  Went from a 1973 C10 to a 2001 2500HD in 2007, then a 2006 2500HD in 2009, and when dad passed away at the end of 2015 I started DD his '09 dually.  Around here it seems like long beds are unicorns so getting another dually guarantees me a long bed.  1500s sit too low and because of that plus they are shorter, feel smaller to me.  Plus no 8 footer unless I go way back down to a regular cab.  When it comes to trucks I'm along the lines of 0-who cares.  I got along just fine in my c10 and that literally could not beat a civic or a saturn in a drag race (I tried, a lot lol).

I been driving trucks my whole life and I don't think I would mind 2500 as a DD...my DD is at  home depot every day picking up something (granted not always loading it down hard)….but driven them B4

like the person up above said, its just a more substantial truck and when you need it you have it....my old tundra gets 12 mpg so am used to shitty gas mileage, the 1500 tank is a joke, I live where there is plenty of gas stations but still its pretty small tank....

maybe car people or new truck people may struggle with the size...

trucks used to look like trucks back in the day no matter which you had, but now that isn't the case....luxury 1500's look almost like sedans and 2500/3500 are the only models that look like "trucks" nowadays....plus I think chevy nailed it with 2020 HD trucks...best looking truck on market imo, GMC front end is a lil funky to me

LOL I parallel parked on the street the first day I took it for a test drive. And it is my daily driver, 32 miles a day.

That’s what I’m sayin’, you do it anyway!

Talking about daily driving and parallel parking... here is me today. When there are actually cars in the spots, it’s a little too long to squeeze in! Do you see the issue here?

Maybe it’s just Portland that has Prius-sized only parking spots...

I’m out here in Portland too!

OP- I had a 2019 1500 High Country with a 6” lift on it, loved it! I had it for exactly a year before I test drove a 2500/3500. The HD test drive felt very similar to my lifted 1500, that’s how big they feel, stock! Haha

I was very impressed with the ride quality as I expected a harsh ride. But as others have stated, it’s firm but still good. Granted this was just test drives but I was impressed.

I had the 1500 short bed and the standard bed on the HD’s are a foot longer!! So you get more bed space too and that’s without stepping up to the long bed!

At the time I didn’t “need” an HD, but wanted one because I wanted some larger trailers in the future so wanted to be prepared for whatever.

I now need one and have one on order, but even if I didn’t need it for a year it two I probably would’ve still ordered one, they are sweet trucks!

So at the end of the day, as others said, if you want one, get one :)

are those both customs?....last 2 photos?

My silver 2500HD is an LT trim. The WT and Custom trucks have the black bumpers.

The center console does not open on the WT and Custom's with the front bench seats from what I've read. That's pretty stupid in my opinion, just a waste of unused space. I have the LT with front bench seat and the center flip up seat back console opens and the center seat bottom opens up for storage. Even though I think there is less storage space than in my 2013 Silverado.Front.thumb.jpg.d3bd8657ed2a86f9bac02519fd26c212.jpgRear.thumb.jpg.9d38439d7deb7c123572fff353bf32c9.jpg
