225k 2014 roll the dice or pass

Recommended Posts

Greetings all, long time lurker first time poster. Cutting to the chase, I have an opportunity to check out a 2014 double cab z71 silverado this weekend for sale (dealer). Biggest issue is the miles 225k. Other issues are a full on front end crash 2 years ago (fully repaired) and smashed tailgate (currently). Truck appears well maintained and in great shape other wise. Dealer asking 11k. Any sound advice on if a roll of the dice at 8.5-9k is worth it? Am i better off starting at a lower offer or avoiding it all together? Im guessing trade in would have been in the 6,300 to 7,200 range?? Thanks for the input in advance and thanks for a great source for info of every kind on this forum.

You didn't give enough trim detail for proper search, which you can do yourself ya know. That said it looks like the ask is below the NADA retail numbers and reflecting past and current structural damages/repairs. That doesn't make it a good deal.

People set markets not products. Trucks are the rage now so junk is expensive. Not saying its junk. Just say' n.

I bought my 2015 in 2016 for 19K with a thousand miles on the clock. NADA on the truck your asking about with that many miles in $16,000. Auction price, that's the number you need to know and that will be area specific. As long as he believes he can get more than that....he keeps trying. If you know that price and know it's been there awhile offer a bit over auction and remind him of the favor you doing him saving the trouble of sending it to auction with no assurance of final price.

Now all that said and if it were me? PASS. There are better deals to be made. Look private sales.
