I was able to keep my 2016 Duramax engine clean by giving the engine compartment a nice spray (rightly or wrongly - but never seemed to cause an issue).

 

Any thoughts on how to keep the new engines clean?  They obviously have specific areas now that you cannot spray, due to the air intakes.
