Can I change the published 5th wheel pin weight ?

Short version.

Buying an RV - still shopping. (Toyhauler)

 

Looked at those within trucks towing capacity and within all gross weights.

 

2020 3500 duramax, single rear axle

 

Truck has pin weight published at 3180

Total towing at 21300

Total load 7125

 

One of the trailers I looked at had a gross trailer max at 20K.

but the pin weight was 3400.

 

Although I would be within the total load, payload, and hauling, the pin weight is higher than the sticker.

 

If i added airbags or springs would it do anything beyond simply stabilizing the load? 

 

My concern is not total haul capacity but if some jack@#$ hits me on the road will insurance state that i was hauling outside of the truck ratings?

 

I know, I could go smaller!  Or get the dually.
