What does “Off-road mode do?”

Recommended Posts

The  gas 6.6  with the 6 speed has 3 transmission modes. Normal, Tow, and Off-road.

Tow mode is an obvious difference.

What is Off-road mode supposed to do?  I can’t really notice any difference from “normal” except maybe a slightly lazier throttle response.

Anybody know?

From the link above......

OFF-ROAD MODE (4WD with 2-speed transfer case)
Four-wheel drive Sierra Denali models, along with Sierra AT4 models equipped with the available Technology Package, include a two-speed Autotrac transfer case – and include an Off-Road Mode within Traction Select, which is designed for use for higher-speed driving on non-paved surfaces.

Off-Road mode incorporates the same accelerator calibration as Snow Mode, giving the driver precise throttle control. Off-Road mode also incorporates unique Stabilitrak and traction control calibrations, which allow for a little more wheelslip than on dry surfaces, in order to help carry momentum – important on gravel or in muddy situations.
