Elite Engineering E2000 Catch Can Installation Video (2014+ GM Trucks)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I just got finished installing this catch can to my 2017 GMC Sierra. I know that the other catch cans are pretty similar but I decided to make my own video. I do not think there are any other videos of this one getting installed. Sorry about the quality slightly lacking, I need to get a new camera but do not want to drop near $1,000 on a nice camcorder/DSLR. I hope you guys enjoy it, and hope it helps someone install it or make a decision. I will also return here and post an update after I have driven the truck some.

Thanks!

I have been running mine for over 2 years, catches a lot of oil/moisture mix.

Do the CRC Valve/Turbo cleaner top end cleaning as well. Then the catch can keep the valves cleaner vs not having one installed.

Yeah I have been thinking about doing it. A part of me does not like doing stuff like that. Because even though it is probably small you run the risk of messing up your engine or putting wear an tear on it that might show up later. Also CRC recommends you use their cleaner for GDI engines every 10,000 or every oil change. I guess since I have a catch can on it doing it once to make sure the lifters and surrounding area is clean.

I will think about it, maybe when I do another video to update the catch can I will buy a can of it and do that too.

This is the first vid I’ve seen on the new E2000. Got the same one and it’s solid. emoji106.png3905060f238ba745a618ec0ec100aea7.jpg

lol just responded to you in the other forum.

I like the quick connect fittings, but did you notice how they come off with very little effort? The other ones were a challenge to get off and these you hardly have to press and they pop off. So I hope there are now issues with that. However, it is definitely a solid catch can overall, I am glad that I decided to go with it over other alternatives.

They say every 10k because they want to sell the product lol
Do it once a year or every 2nd or 3rd oil change, that's what I'm doing.

Yep I noticed the same thing. These aren't pressurized lines so I don't anticipate any issues with them over stock. OEM always makes things tougher than they need to be lol. So long as gases and oil can flow through them unrestricted then all is good. Elite Engineering has a solid following in many other performance communities so I think we're good [emoji106]

A little tight getting a funnel in the fill hole when adding/changing oil.

I loosen the mounting bracket on mine (different manufacturer) and swing it out for clearance.

Yeah probably UPR right? That was easily my second choice. I liked where that one mounted better than the Elite Engineering can. However, according to others we should be able to reach our oil fill cap easier over the UPR. It sits lower and further away from the firewall. I already tried to imagine what a funnel will be like and it is definitely going to be tight. Will not know how much it gets in the way until I have to do an actual oil change though.

I got the oil changes covered by the stealership for the next 5 years so hopefully they won't give me issues because of the clearance. It's be pointless to have to take it off everytime. Elite also had an alternate mount location but that made a longer run for the vapors to travel.

Mine is mounted on the booster, used that bolt that's on the booster. Plenty of clearance.

Yeah if you look at ours the braided quick connect lines have a little less slack, which takes them closer to the top of the engine. However, it is very similar and definitely do not think I will have to remove it.

Yeah I think I have two free oil changes with the stealership. I do not think they are going to mention the can. I cannot see it causing any issues but I guess we will find out.

Yep, UPR. Your photo may be deceiving as to your clearance on the oil fill. I purchased an "offset" funnel and that has made life much easier.
