Cameras?

I have a 7pin trailer plug tester and it did NOT work.

it doesn't work because those 7 ping testers no longer work on the Canbus equipped systems! The issue is now the computer is looking at specific loads. The only tester on the market that seems to work is the IPA 9107A Electric Brake Force Meter. I bought one and it works great. Allows you to test your truck's connections from inside the cab (once you plug it in to the rear). There are a few youtube reviews out there that you can view that show you how it works.

It was the only tester I could get to work on the new Canbus systems.

I ordered this adapter to work with my camper since it doesn't draw enough to be recognized when plugged it. Once I plug in this adapter it thinks a trailer is attached and pops up on the infotainment screen. If  you select a profile then the cameras activate on the turn signal as if there was a trailer attached.

FYI

So I ordered this adapter as well and it does work for the camera, but there is a catch.  Since the truck thinks a trailer is attached, the rear parking sensors and the side cross traffic alert systems default to “off”. That’s a deal breaker for me.

It is cool to have the camera on while driving though, and when you flip the turn signal lever.

I’m sure an aftermarket solution is in the works.

Did you try setting it to Accessory/No Trailer?

I don’t think I did.  I’m pretty sure I set it to guest trailer...

Lemme try that and get back to you...  thx.

Does anyone know how using that adapter used to trick the computer into trailer towing mode will change the applicable parameters in the computers -- I'm thinking shifting, engine tuning, torque management, etc?
I would think u would have to be in tow haul mode for that unless it forces u into it

Connecting a trailer does not change anything powertrain related.  Tow haul mode is not forced on with a "trailer" connected.
