What's all needed to make this work on a truck without heated steering wheel?

Mine was plug and play, but not all trucks are like that I’m one of the lucky ones, some need a wire from one conjunction box to another like a jumper to finished the circuit which u can order from Phil’s website https://harnessdr.com/

since this from a gmc, will it work with a silverado. it looks like the trim pieces are different

Yes it is compatible I’ve seen Silverado wheels on Sierra Vice versa

yes it will work, but the silver finish will be slightly different than the rest of the silver pieces in the truck (radio and door).  I have both a silverado and sierra and while they are very close, it is slightly different. one is more glossy and the other is more matte and brushed finish. 

 But this is a great price, I did the silverado upgrade a couple years ago and just did the sierra one last year.

Also have the matching bezels if needed brushed aluminum, with the matching screen since it also has the brushed aluminum strip on it.
