My wonderful introduction to the Chevy family

Recommended Posts

Yeap, I have had problems with Fords as well but nothing like a leaky transmission at 1000 miles.

The leak appears to be at the gasket holding the two pieces of the tranny together.  It has soaked the frame cross member under the tranny and the skid plat.

Can't tell how much as leaked as there is no dip stick!

Brand new Silverado LT TB.  1000 miles.  At this point I usually do an early oil change.  Sure am glad I crawled under there.  I found a leaky transmission.  Seems it is leaking at the seal.  Lovely.  This is my introduction to Chevy after 30 years of Ford trucks!

My .02

If a small drip not hitting the ground  or just wet area....my advice is don't go crazy and take immediately top the dealer. Of course a hevy drip reuirees immediate attention. On many new cars not uncommon to gewt a little seepage until the seal wears in. I suggest you clean and wipe and check in 500 miles and then see if it continues to leak/seep. If so then a warranty repair.

Dealers get paid their standard rate for warranty repairs and would be happy to tear it apart for replacement and maybe screw up something else doing so. And if an 8 speed also brings up the topic of checking and topping off fluid. If vehicle mfg date on driver door body tag is 3/19 or later it has the new Mobil1 fluid and should be topped off only with Mobil1....if earlier DextronVI, might wish to ask for a complete refill with the Mobil1 to avoid possible future problems.

I've definitely had my share of issues with Ford, but have to agree it was never at 1000 miles.

I’ve had them all and they’re all the same, mass produced equipment but one thing is certain, GM has better looking vehicles. GM may have its problems but it’s all fixable. One good thing came out of this, you got to meet your service department and not just for an oil change. I’m sure it’ll work itself out, good luck and enjoy your new GM Truck.

Is is a 10 speed manufactured 9/19.   The whole skid plate and frame cross member where wet with red trans fluid.  I might tend to agree with you but since there is no way for me to add or check trans fluid and I care about my garage floor, I'm taking it in.

"there is no way for me to add or check trans fluid"

Really?

How do you think the dealer or a mechanic services the trans.

I'm not trying to to bust your balls but you came on here to complain and then you mention the f word.

Your leak is covered under warranty.

So explain why you came here in the first place.

:)

You are busting his balls and the only one doing so. I see nothing wrong with joining this forum and viewing his concerns.
