Man, when we were kids, those car keys meant, FREEDOM!!!  We all endeavored to earn our license and work to pay for our cars, gas, tires and oil!

So many of these youngsters have the big city mentality, they despise the cars they hire to drive them to work and home and to their next hook up.  I think in reality, they are too lazy to work enough to earn a car and take care of it, justifying Uber because of propaganda showing that it costs such and such to own and operate a vehicle.  They all live at home or share a house with 10 or more people, in short they are degenerating themselves away from the society and high standard of living that each generation built upon the next.

Thank God, my children, all girls, love cars and can turn wrenches if needs be.

My first car that I bought outright was a 73 Vega, paid $100.00 for it.

Used more oil than gas, car would not have passed emissions in most third world countries (if they even had them), but it was still cool, got me out of the house, and took me where I wanted to go, and broke down regularly, forcing me to learn how to fix a car, change a tire, find a phone to call for help, all life learning lessons.

Good job with your girls, the more you know, the further you will go in life, turning wrenches teaches patience, and reasoning skills that are invaluable traits to have.

Thanks!  Those Vegas made great drag cars!

Emissions?  Ha!  My first car didn't even have seat belts and burned leaded gas!  Owning and operating my first car was like being an airman on F-4 Phantoms, for every hour I flew it, the next four hours were spent working on it!  LOL

Firstly, we currently (sorry for pun haha) don't have the electrical grid to charge a complete switch to electric.

And the current cars don't have the travel distance per charge that North Americans require and are accustom to.

An example of this is been brought to my attention recently. An acquaintance with a Tesla car drove the same route I just drove from Alberta Canada to Phoenix Arizona. I took him a day and a half longer to do the trip than it took me because he had to stop every 350 miles to charge his car up. I did the trip in two days in my Tahoe.

While I was in Arizona I was at several Harley Davidson stores. They have the new Livewire bikes on display. Salesman told me that they have a travel distance per charge of 100 miles. Well you can talk to any serious HD rider and they will tell you they fart 100 mile trips. So the new Livewire is basically a commuter bike. It looks cool as hell but it is nothing but a go to work bike. No trips to Sturgis on one of them.

In European countries electric may work because of the short distances and small countries, but here in wide open travel distances of North American they are going to have to figure out longer trips per charge.
