Factory tailpipe chrome again?

Recommended Posts

These HD tailpipes are so big they almost look like chrome tips. When my truck was new, the tailpipe looked pretty shiny. Is there any way I can restore it to look chrome again? Well, not really chrome cuz I don't want to cut it off and have it chrome dipped. But is there a way to clean it up really good?

where do you get the NeverDull?

You can pick up the NeverDull at Walmart. It is in a chrome can. It is a wadding that you just tear off a piece and start polishing. It leaves a film on there that will need to be buffed off with a clean rag.

Here is the way mine turned out after about 30-45 minutes of rubbing...

That is sweet!  Thanks for the info

If you have alot of road grime on there, be prepared to scrub the heck out of it with SOS pads first. Once you get the it clean it will be silver, but kind of dull looking.

Just work the NeverDull wadding in circles like you are waxing a car. You have to push on it a little because you are actually "polishing" all the scratches etc. out of the stainless.

Then take a clean towel and drape it over the pipe and grab the ends of it and pull it back and forth like you were polishing/buffing your shoes.

It takes some work to get it to shine, but once it's there you anly have to spend a minute or so cleaning it up again when you wash the truck.

You might want to try some "bug and tar" remover on it first if you have alot of grime on your tail pipe.

Shaners,

That is sweet. It looks shinier than when mine was new. How long will that last? Do you need to use that stuff every time you wash it?

Once you get it to shine, it only takes a few minutes every once in awhile to keep it looking like that.

I wash my truck about every 6 weeks, and if I spend a few minutes with the NeverDull and a buffing rag it comes out pretty good.

I only buffed up the last 16" or so of the tail pipe.
