2014 Sierra 1500 crew cab Remote Keyless entry “receiver” location

Recommended Posts

I can’t find anything online nor in my Haynes manual for the location of the remote keyless entry receiver on my 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE Crew cab. I’ve pulled apart the rear passenger door panel as well as the trim panel next to the rear window passenger side. Any help is much appreciated.

Found it. It in the rear over head just right (passenger side) of center, next to the rear window. Whenever in doubt, call your local service center and talk to the parts department.

Gonna wait until it starts acting up again then swap it to verify that’s what my issue was with my locks constantly locking. In another post, my trucks locks were acting crazy and constantly actuating and I narrowed it down to this thing or the Body control module. Fairly certain the receiver is the problem. I just started using my rear defrost and as you can see, the thing is butted up against the discharge.

So, I was close on my first guess yesterday.

Are you going to put everything back together, and then strip it again if it is bad.

Could they tell you if there is a way to test it first?

Gonna leave everything apart for awhile and hopefully we have a hard freeze again and I can get it to act up again then just disconnect/ swap to verify that’s the problem. Plus I get my fancy diagnostic tool (icarsoft CR pro OBD2) today and hopefully it tells me something.

Specialty tools are cool, especially when they can solve a problem for you!!!

Good luck!

Did you ever solve your issue?  Mine is acting up as well, but the opposite problem.. it randomly stops working.  I've pulled the module out, and I think it might be an issue with the ground, but I can't figure out where the ground is located.

I get a 11.9v difference across the unit when it is not working, and a 12.0v difference when it is... which doesn't seem enough to create problems with the receiver, but I'm at a loss otherwise.

Here's the thread of my problem:  https://www.silveradosierra.com/electrical/2014-rcdlr-tpms-keyless-entry-intermittent-crewcab-t741673.html
