2017 GMC Sierra door not locking/unlocking

Recommended Posts

2017 GMC Sierra - 60k miles. I’ve already been to the dealer once to have the driver rear door lock actuator replaced.. they applied GM goodwill and I still ended up paying around $150.00, now the Front passenger is doing the same.

If these are going to keep going bad, I need to learn how to replace them. I stumbled across a thread that i can’t seem to find now. I read the part is actually only $50?

Is there a motor involved or is it just an actuator? It will lock and unlock Intermittently... which is bad because it would be nice to know when you press lock your door is actually secure...

Anybody have a website they recommend purchasing from? A better brand? Are they all junk?

These guys make upgraded parts for most of our common failures due to plastic gears etc.

I replaced mine myself, it wasn't that bad.

here is a link that will walk you through it step by step.

Thank you. Why is the GM Part $100+, but the one on the link only $29.95? Is it the motors failing? This is for sure the piece I need to replace?

I called GM today and they want $150+ for part number 13598357... found it online for $99

I found mine online too. I was able to convince the dealer to match GM Parts Direct but I dont remember how much I paid for it at the time. The dealer will always have a large up-charge.
