Factory Mud Guards?

Recommended Posts

I just noticed today on my 2020 Silverado LT that I have a set of factory Mud guards in front of the rear wheels and nothing behind them.  But there is ones behind the front tires. Is that supposed to be that way? I called the dealership and they said it wasn't correct. But I just noticed another new model Silverado with the same thing.

That is how it comes from the factory, then GM offers the larger guards as a accessory add on. Part numbers on the accessory guards are 84649174 for the front and 84109906 for the rear. It does seem odd that the fronts have them behind the tire and the rear does not.

Thank you for the info. Yeah it just seems really weird that it would be in front of the rear tire and not behind but ok.

Because they are not mud flaps......mud flaps go behind the tire......they are stone guards to keep from kicking stones and gravel against the sides of the doors.....fronts when moving forward, rear when moving in reverse

The real OEM mudguards replace the front stone guard with a mudflap, and another set is installed on the fender behind the rear tires.

Here's what mud flaps look like:

Gotcha, the newest truck I've ever owned was a 97 Ram so I really haven't kept up with styling of mud flaps and rock guards
