1" rear block

I have a '19 sierra SLE with a front level. The truck is 0-1/4" high in the front, so I would like to add a small 1" block to the back. With only 1" would I need shock extensions? Also I see some debate on whether to remove or keep the tapered shim under the springs.

Has anyone figured this out yet?
