3.0 L Diesel. Anyone Else Notice This??

I’m hearing a breathing wheezing gasping sound coming from the engine just after shut down for about. 5-8 seconds.

IDK for sure but perhaps an air or vacuum leak that's only audible during turbo spindown?  Have the dealer check it out since you're most certainly still under warranty.

I don't have this particular engine, but my Colorado Dmax makes whirring, clicking and cycling noises after shutdown.  Been doing it for two years.

my 2.8 Duramax Canyon did it and my current 3.0 Sierra does it also.  I've hear people say its a turbo cooling process, a DEF pump purging process and other things.  In any case, I believe it to be a normal sound.  I had a 4.0 v6 Taco that made a noise after shut down that was also considered common and normal.

6.6L does a bunch of that at shutdown too.

 

Turbo vanes, def pump, egr valve....all normal.

Might be fuel pressure reduction as well?  These things are pumping massive PSI of fuel.
