Back from the dealer now.  If you are seeing radio restarts, I would perform a reset on the Google play system.  That it is what my invoice says they did.  Apparently there is a bulletin PIT5977F relating to this.  Could not find any info online.  You will need to sign back in to Google play after that.  I think I am just not going to sign back in since I use CarPlay for everything and I have no OTA plan.

The radio software update they did went from version y165 to y167.  That relates to bulletin 23-NA-034.  Check that out here:

Tons of updates.  I haven’t seen really any of those issues on page 2, but hopefully I see some stability improvements overall.

Good luck!!

Audio dropouts have not been resolved yet.

2023 Silverado, 2 months old, and already having all the issues described in this thread: Random reboots, freezing, faulty updates. It rebooted twice during a 5 minute phone call. For a $60K brand new vehicle that has been in production a few years, not having and/or implementing a solution is unacceptable.

This is certainly not what we like to hear, Doe Johnathan.  Please know, customer satisfaction is extremely important to us. Our team would be more than happy to take a closer look into the concerns with the entertainment system on your 2023 Chevrolet Silverado. To do so, please send an email to [email protected] with ATTN: Doe Johnathan/GM Trucks in the subject line.

Well obviously they STILL haven’t fixed the issue. We have a brand new 2023 Sierra 1500 Denali that does it with the apple car play. 🙄. You would think when you pay all this money for something they would have glitches like this fixed.

Considering GM intends to drop all support for Android Auto and Apple Car Play in their vehicles, I believe it's safe to say they don't intend to address the problem.

I have a 2019 LT Z71 and my radio just restarts whenever i have had the screen replaced and the radio replaced and it is still randomly restarting. I am also having a hard shift problem with my transmission. My dealership has informed me that due to is sitting and the fluid draining out of the crank case the transmission will hard shift until fluid is built up. But I have owned 5 Silverados and have never had this issue before

Hate to tell you, but it’s been going on for much longer and it’s not Apple/Android CarPlay.   I’ve got a ‘15 2500 and don’t have that option, only Bluetooth play.  I use Sirius play through an external receiver as I’m a lifetime subscriber, and can only change head units only a couple times.  It’s only connected via the audio jack under the armrest.  No bluetooth, nothing.

It’s been rebooting for years.  Most of the time it’s only two, sometimes it’s up to four or five.

Then again, this is the most problematic Chevy I’ve ever had in my life.  The whole dash going goofy, not wanting to start (obviously electrical), never ending emissions, and other things, yet I’m still under 100k

I have a 2021 silverado 1500 ltz which is doing the same thing . It will shut off randomly and boot back up. Took it to dealer and they had it for two days and said they did a software update which was a 10 weeks ago. Well here we are again and it still does it randomly. Seems GM has had plenty of time to fix this problem from what I have been reading here this problem has been going on for a few years. I guess my question is why take it in to the dealer if know one knows what the problem is . Been a faithful Chevy buyer all my life , maybe be time to rethink that . $70,000 dollar truck should not be doing this . Still under warranty.

2017 LTZ. This just started today. iPhone 14 ProMax. I have put almost 50k miles on and a couple cross country trips on. Not a problem until today. On the way to work and on CarPlay. It let out a shrill beeeeep and then the whole thing went black. Radio, screen, audio, and all cut out. After a short while it all powered back up and went back into what I was playing like nothing happened. It reminds me of the early days of blavkberry, Android and iPhone phones crashing and rebooting. Basically, the issue then was that the hardware was not updated far enough to handle the software. I.e. hardware can only handle up to version 5 and you want it to handle version 12. Basically put, the computer in it needs more RAM”

I have this same problem still in 2024. I will say it’s always when using Apple Car Play but I’m always using Apple Car Play so I can’t say that it doesn’t happen when NOT using it.

One thing I did not see mentioned here is that also get an echo sometimes like it switching to other speakers or something. Usually comes back after a couple of seconds. I also get the reboot mentioned by others. Still no fix for this?!!

I gave up on it... and gave up on GM. The vehicle itself was fine, but Car Play _IS_ my infotainment system. I now own a Santa Cruz (I'll let you look up the brand.)
