Head Lights/ Low Beam = Pissed Drivers

My alignment is correct. The road is not always correct. Any bump, crater, hill, etc makes the front end bounce a bit or change viewing angle of my headlights making oncoming drivers believe they’re being flashed or highs are on. It’s annoying they don’t realize it’s not on level ground. Don’t get flashed on highway all the time when passing other cars.

I used to get this in my 01 Silverado.

If I had anything in the bed it would make the ass end bounce and people thought I was flashing them all the time.

And my point is: showing them your brights aren't on doesn't help the next car after them who is also getting blinded. Please check your alignment. People just don't flash you for the fun of it. They are pissed because your lights are in their eyes. Your lights should be angled downhill by a couple inches over 25 feet. If they are straight horizontal, you will continue to get flashed. Proving to each driver that your low beams are poorly aligned only demonstrates that you are the problem.

Extremely bright headlights shouldn't even be necessary for healthly individuals.

Interesting fact:

https://discoveryeye.org/night-blindness/

Progressive night blindness is one of the first visual symptoms of these two diseases. ... Diabetes – People with diabetes are at higher risk for night vision problems because of the damage to the blood vessels and nerves in the resulting in diabetic retinopathy.

Maybe its the people that think they need to tint the front window so they don't need sunglasses during the day. Then at night they can't see anything outside.

I don't understand why you guys will not lower the headlights? They are clearly too high from the factory. People are flashing you because your headlights are blinding them. Like I said before... just because "it came that way" doesn't mean that it is right. Go measure it on a wall or garage door. You'll see that they are aimed a tad too high.

I get what you are saying and on the other side I've seen when skimming the silverado manual stating they are set at the correct height leaving the factory and should not need adjustment.. that means to me that someones job in the factory is to set these at a specific height but I have no idea.

I totally agree. I lowered mine a tad. I use a level slab with a brick wall and use the bricks and mortar joints for leveling both the same.  You can tell on a dark road by looking down the road at the light cutoff point if they're too high or low.

Haha. I was trying to find a "you had one job" kind of meme... but ran across this site:

The WT/Custom T1 has Halogen H11's. LT and above have LED headlamps in prisms. I don't believe this applies.

Exactly. These trucks have reflectors and not projectors. 2 totally different concepts. And no shutters!

True that '14/'15 had crappy lights. I know, I had one. True, rather have bright and bright is better if not set too high. Bright set correct [emoji106]; Bright set too high [emoji107]

I had a custom for a day as a loaner and I didn’t think the lights were even on driving on a dark road. I get flashed on occasion in my LT  I flash back too probably not the best idea but they do stop flashing me lol. they aren’t aimed too high there aim seems fine to me I have checked it. Also leds seem blinding anyway when approaching other vehicles with how bright they are. Just my opinion.

You see this on every truck forum. If only there was a government agency to regulate headlights...oh wait! There is!

I notice my cutoff line every time I’m sitting at a stoplight, it’s well below the top of the trunk lid on an average car. Of course this changes with any sort of incline or uneven road, but that is something we have had to deal with as driver’s forever, even with crummy halogens.

These lights are bright but the fact of the matter is, it’s a people problem. The average driver wants their own lights to be extra bright, and would prefer it if everyone else’s were dimmed to the point of uselessness. The people flashing at you are not getting blinded, you are just crossing an arbitrary threshold of how bright they think your headlights should be. Who doesn’t love playing the victim in this day and age. Not gonna aim my DOT legal lights into the dirt to make them happy.

Awhile back I got flashed, I flashed my high beams back, then they did a u-turn and pulled me over.  Had a nice long talk with the officer and told them these things were aimed correctly as I had recently checked them and he believed me.  I told him I only get flashed every once in awhile and it's usually from someone in a small car that sits low to the ground.  We talked about the aftermarket headlights as well as the new Ford F250s and 350s that appear as though they have their high beams on when they do not because of the upper and lower parts of the housing containing low beam lights.  He ended up being cool about it and let me go.  Note:  I did have sylvania silverstar bulbs that I had recently put in.  yes they were a bit brighter but still aimed right.
