I think there is no thermostat neither, its like a chamber that pivot and open and close to divert the coolant, either to warm up the engine and transmission oil or to the rad. It seem like a complicated engine setup! My goal is to keep it for decade... lol. I'll be fine with all the global warming happening! I would suggest harassing GM about it,if it's not heating up the cab well. Otherwise, it's NBD.
OnTheReel
I’m assuming the electric water pump is set up to run on demand only. If it’s idling in the cold, it’s probably programmed to not circulate as much, in order to speed engine warmup and maintain the temperature. The side effect of that would be...it’s not circulating coolant through the heater core either? Seems a bit short sighted on GM’s part if that’s all there is to it... Engine is a 2.7 turbo 4 cyl. -21c/-6f. I'm also in Edmonton and my 2023 is doing the same. Seeing as you posted in 2020 what was your outcome? davester
...probably won't find out, as Stevie hasn't logged onto the site in 4 years...
silveradosid
my 2020 is the same, all though i do not idle it much but i have a few times. i think it is because the cam is in low lift mode and only so much fuel can be delivered in that position, which is why i don't idle it much. remote start for 2 to 3 minutes and i am gone. it heats up faster driving it
