Deer season, deer lease!

Heading to the lease to start getting ready for the season... who else here is prepping for the hunt? I thought I share the view from my favorite stand.

Yup, that's Texas hill country all right. I would be able to hunt it if it weren't for my father-in-law! I am like the son he never had. Which is good, because we both LOVE hunting

What part of Texas is that? My uncle was on a lease just west of Junction. He got off of it this year. So no hunting for Speedy this year.

I believe bow season started here in KS the 1st weekend in October and runs all the way up until rifle season which is December 3rd-14th and then a doe only season Jan 1st-4th. Don't give you very long to rifle hunt here in KS, but I can hardly wait. Got a real nice 11 pt buck last year, weighed over 200lbs field dressed. Doubt I will do better this year, but we have some even bigger ones running around....

I've got to say though, I'm so glad I don't live in TX. That has to be tough only being able to hunt if you have leased ground. There is a little of that going on around here, but not nearly as much as TX. Of course it also helps I worked for a farmer the last 6 years and can hunt on the 2400 acres his family farms. Don't hurt that he hunts with us and can get permission to hunt even more ground.

Looks like a nice place. I allready got 1 buck so far but I have another tag but since its been hot here the deer arent moving much. Need some weather to get the bigger bucks moving.
