Electrical Fire

Has anyone heard of a electrical fire in the dash of their 2019 Chevrolet Silverado.  Had my High Country one month with 1012 miles on it when the fire happened. 

The ac blower motor melted and burned all the wires in the dash. 

Nothing like leaving a restaurant and seeing your new truck full of smoke and flames on the windshield.

No, haven't heard anything about that yet.  When did this happen?  Post up the photos and more details.. Totaled?  Repair?

It happened on January 8th.

I would say that they need to replace the truck. I could not trust that truck again.

Have not gotten much of a response from gm or the dealership.  It seems to be a waiting game for now.

Was the HVAC system module programmed by the dealer for "afterblow". Programmed "off" as the default...my dealer had set mine to on to prevent the  an odor buildup in the evaporator core after shutting off in a humid environment. When feature is set to "on" the blower motor will continue to go through an on/off/on cycle after ignition off to remove remaining condensate from the coil.Could be something jammed the motor after you exited and that's when the fire started.

Unsure if that is the case. In the month that I have had it always cut off with the ignition was turned off. 

Earlier that day with the ignition in accessory mode the truck started when putting fuel in the truck.

Man that really sucks. Glad nobody got hurt. You REALLY need to go to the NHTSA website and report this. That is the most effective way to get GM to investigate things if it starts happening to multiple people.

On the comical side maybe this is why GM engineered the leaking rear windows in these trucks to out out the electrical fires.....
