Horrible MPG, what’s wrong with my truck!

If you’re this pickled over mileage, switch to highway tires, Michelin defenders. The tires on the trucks getting 24mpg at 65-70 aren’t equipped with AT tires.

You may also consider a tune, SuperChips

Not too concerned about it.

It’s better than my last truck.

I’ll probably consider less aggressive tires when I wear through my BFG’s.

Not going to spend $1200 on tires now just to save a few bucks.

Didn’t know they make tunes for these trucks yet.

I’ve heard they do but may be limited. Id recommend maybe adding more air to your tires, help cut down rolling resistance which you already have due to aggressive AT lugs, may help until you decide on tires. Good luck

On my 2013 Silverado, BFG AT KO2s moved my gas mileage average from 17.3 to 15.8 mpg. FYI. That was my last set of BFGs.

I’ve had multiple sets and have never been disappointed, just like all AT tires and Hybrid tires, the more aggressive the lugs, the worse the mileage. You can’t have OffRoad tires and later complain about mpg’s. It’s said, over 80% of truck owners never go OffRoad which is why I recommend Michelin Defenders or a few other great tires strictly for on road performance saving you on the mpg’s.

This is my original thread that totally got derailed.

Ive had multiple new trucks, 5.3’s and 6.2’s. I’m not new to driving trucks or fuel mileage with them. Aerodynamics, speed, blah blah save it.

My point was this truck is getting significantly worse mileage than other 6.2’s I’ve owned or any other truck for that matter.

Nailed it Brendon444, that was my point exactly. Cruise at 81 on my 18 averaged 21 to 24. Cruise at 81 on my 20 about 14-15. City driving went from 15-17 to 10 on the 20.

That’s similar to what I’ve noticed. 2014,2016,2018 all better then this 2020. Not by a little bit either. Hoping with mileage it will improve.

I Have had 4 of the 6.2 Denali trucks in a row 16 / 17 / 18 8sspd and now this 19 with the 10spd. This 2019 is looking to be very similar mpg to the other 3 trucks but I only have a little over 600 miles.  Currently at approx 19 mpg but it has had a lot of idling time and I have been driving at different speeds and rpms in tow haul mode etc to change RPM's and  break the engine in properly. (yes I know it is not a requirement to do this just an old habit and personal preference)  I will know more in a few months but like I said it is doing about what I expected and really similar to the past models on MPG.  When we hear of someone getting poor mileage we always suspect that they may be doing something different from us long idle warm up times / using low octane fuel / heavy right foot / neighbors kid siphoning gas for his snowblower LOL etc.   You may just be experiencing a mechanical issue such as a dragging brake system? Hard to say and really hard to get a dealership to investigate anything unless it has a CEL or a part falls off and hits their foot or something Hahahaha
