Nope just pull the gold one off. No need to remove the grill. If you have some trim removal tools or in my case I used a plastic squeegee thing for tint or vinyl and work it from the top corner comes off pretty easily. New one pops right in.

Ok cool, is it glued or are there plastic retaining clips?

Used my GM/Chevy points to purchase an illuminated bow tie for mine, back around Thanksgiving, and I'm still waiting.  The local stealership is racking up single star Yelps from both my wife and myself.  Long stories, of which this is only one of them.  I've called them, and they tell me that they'll call me back after they look into it.

They looked into it, was "still in transit."  ?  YES, I was ticked.  Told them to return it and I'll go get it elsewhere, where I know I'll have it within a few days.  Monday, last week, their Parts Department head, called me, and notified me that they've had one in their "stock room," and that he was UPS-ing it to me, I received it sometime on Tuesday.  So last Saturday, I finally K.O.d this.  So now, I'm waiting on a co-worker to get paid (tomorrow), so he can pull money out to pay me for my original front and the new tailgate bow ties, and he can swap his gold bow ties out, to join the "Black Tie Club."
