2002 transfercase problems

       I have a 2002 4wheel drive 2500 Chevrolet pickup, with the Duramax diesel engine and 6 speed manual transmission. Recently while driving on the freeway, I lost all drive to the rear wheels. It acted as if the clutch was engaged. After coasting to a stop, I tried to move the truck in 2hi and nothing happened. Next I tried 4hi and again nothing. but when I used 4lo everything worked normally. Has anyone else had this happen? does anyone know what the problem might be?

range fork worn isn't unusual, but could be something else busted as well.
