Android Auto not working correctly

Recommended Posts

Went for a long snowmobile trip with a friend. While I was driving, he hooked his phone via USB cable and Apple Car Play came up on the screen. He was able to do things with his Iphone that are not even an option with Bluetooth Android Auto. When I tried to connect my Samsung S9+ via USB wire, I continually get a message, something like "connection error, retry." No matter what cable or what USB port I use, I an unable to get my phone to talk to the truck at all, much less with the functionality of Apple car play.

Anyone able to get their Android to talk to the 2020 Denali via cable?

Thanks

I had the same problem on my S8. I uninstalled android auto on my phone, restarted the phone, and then reinstalled. This fixed the problem for me. Before that, i tried clearing the data and cache for the android auto app but that didn't work.

The setting for the truck's Android Auto app is turned on right? I turned off my Apple Car Play because I don't use Apple and 1 less icon on the menu screens.

Android Auto connected with a USB cord does a lot more that Bluetooth does in the 2020 truck and vehicles. I use one of those USB cables that has a magnetic connection and allows both charging and data transfer. Not that many available on Amazon.com yet, but a few and mine works great.

I had an issue connecting my pixel2 to use Android auto. Reinstalled the app, tried multiple USB cords. Nothing seemed to work until I updated every app on my phone and restarted the device.  Android auto is working flawlessly since I did that. Not sure which app was causing the problems.
