Off road led light bar

Recommended Posts

Also you didn't break the bank on buying one.A little bit of know how goes a long way.

Thank you. Originally, I was looking at the $1800 Blue Rigid bar, the GM talked me down to the cheaper lower profile light bar, works great! Best of all, easily replaced if a rock or hard headed dragonfly hits and breaks it. $100 bucks, can’t beat that.

The engine is a 5.3L and the 6.2L has the same factory exhaust system which is 2.75" pipe.Doing an aftermarket exhaust system is overkill due to the fact that it will be 3" pipes and that is a super minimal gain over 2.75".AFE makes a good system and it adds 5HP and the Flowmaster Flow FX muffler does that easily. The part number at Summit racing is FLO-71229,you need an offset/center design and it's a 3" muffler. My exhaust guy used one of those pipe stretching tools and welded it up no problem. The initial sound is moderate but after 500 miles or so it got louder bit still not too loud and no drone inside the cab.The total add ons including the throttle body spacer, dry flow drop in air filter, the muffler and the catch can(no performance gain but necessary) added way more throttle response and power as well as sound.Good luck. Also I just did the Sealight S1 LED headlight conversion kit($85.99-15.00 coupon@amazon) which includes high and low beams.Looks amazing now and not too expensive.

When you installed your exhaust did you remove the flappers in the exhaust?

Yes,you need a small section of pipe to make up the difference between the aftermarket Flowmaster FlowFX muffler part#71229 and the factory super restrictive and 60 poundish muffler. The "flap" is designed for the factory muffler,no reason to keep it.The FlowFx muffler ways about 4-5 pounds. The factory muffler is literally a boat anchor.Once you replace yours you can feel and hear the difference right away. Also in around 500 or so miles of use a performance muffler gains volume but the FlowFX remains fairly quiet in the cab,so no drone but sounds great outside.
