Newest project. Lol. Added glass shelves, painted hardware and piano hinges, added feet and painted to match, Added daylight leds to the side cabinets, RGB leds will go inside the center and underneath. These are just some I had laying around for mockup. Had mirrors cut and glued to the inside on the back.

Who on here has a home theater? I've been working on my basement and getting this theater going.  It's nothing super special, and always done on a budget. ?

I'm running a 70" 6 series 4k Samsung

Onkyo tx-nr686 7.2/5.2.2 receiver

Polk Monitor 50 towers, CS10 center, t15 surrounds and a psw10 sub

ps4

samsung ubd-k8500 4K player (just picked it up for $35). Lol!

I need to tear out the tiled ceiling and put up some drywall with recessed lighting next.  After that, I plan on adding 2 ceiling speakers for the Atmos.  The whole goal is to make a nice room where everyone wants to hang out and have some nice quality family time.  So many ideas and not enough money.  I've been looking at some theater decor and want to make a concession stand with a mini fridge and candy/popcorn area.

Epson Home Cinema 3700

150" Screen (DIY with carl's)

Denon X1400 Receiver

Sony Core Bookshelves

Polk 12" sub

Elac Center

Micca rears

Super budget, but is used 90% of the time for netflix, football, and hunting shows.

Looking at your crown moulding gave me the idea that would have been cool. You could have put dimmable led tape lights on the top of the moulding and then left it down a bit from the cieling. Would have gave a very nice lighting effect to the whole room. Your theater room is looking very good.

There was a gap that couldn’t be covered with drywall. I had to do the crown against the ceiling to fill the gap. Don’t worry though, we already plan on doing a smaller 3.5” dropped crown with leds behind it. Lol.

Making more progress. We got the 70’s carpet ripped up and padding scraped off. Priming and painting the trim White today. Well prime and deal the concrete floor tomorrow for the new carpet being installed Sat morning. It’s just about done!

I do. Have the same receiver as you. Replaced a Marantz slimline model that didn't have the oomph I needed. Otherwise I have a 1080P projector on a 100" screen and a 7.1 speaker layout. 2 floor standing BICs up front, BIC 6.5" two speaker center, 2 more of those for the rear channel, and a couple ceiling mounted polks I intend to replace with a better matching pair of speakers. 12" BIC subwoofer brings the boom but I might get a second one to put in the back of the room. The polks aren't that noticeably different after tweaking the settings some but not a perfect fit either.

Speakers seem nice and neutral to my ear, don't need huge power to push them, and can rumble in action scenes as well as have nice clarity in the higher ranges. Could have spent more but these speakers are great for the price point. Was using a 65" 4k Vizio as my TV which was great but the house I bought came with the projector setup so I've been using that in the theater room. Might move to a 4k projector whenever the bulb on this one pops. Gives me the excuse at least.
