Home Theater anyone??

Who on here has a home theater? I've been working on my basement and getting this theater going.  It's nothing super special, and always done on a budget. ?

I'm running a 70" 6 series 4k Samsung

Onkyo tx-nr686 7.2/5.2.2 receiver

Polk Monitor 50 towers, CS10 center, t15 surrounds and a psw10 sub

ps4

samsung ubd-k8500 4K player (just picked it up for $35). Lol!

I need to tear out the tiled ceiling and put up some drywall with recessed lighting next.  After that, I plan on adding 2 ceiling speakers for the Atmos.  The whole goal is to make a nice room where everyone wants to hang out and have some nice quality family time.  So many ideas and not enough money.  I've been looking at some theater decor and want to make a concession stand with a mini fridge and candy/popcorn area.

I built a Football Party room in my old basement. I made my own projector screen it was just under 90" diagonal. Here's the first game we watched on it (featuring Barry Alvarez in the 2014 Outback Bowl)

I put the front speakers in the wall, and rears in the ceiling tile. 10" Subwoofer was inside the built-in cabinet below the screen.

I had a wet bar and fridge off to the side.

Sold that house, now we just bought a 65" Sony Smart TV for the living room so i don't have to walk downstairs to watch games anymore!

Does adding an external amp help a lot?  I’ve seen a ton of guys on the FB page use them. I don’t crank mine up that loud to need an amp.

It's not about loud.

It's about clarity.

Power can wake up speakers.

I currently have an Onkyo 747, with matching Polk floorstanding 5 channels, two Polk 1000 watt powered subs,  and the pioneer atmos on top of the L&R floorstanding for a 5.2.2(used to be 7.2.2 but they kept falling from the stand, my living room isn't a good shape for complete systems so something was always in the way. I have enough room, it's just the layout of it), TV is a Sony 940E and Blu Ray is the X700. . The speakers are older now (all expect the atmos from the 2009ish line) but still work great, but my next purchase is going to be something like the "Shockwafe" Ultra 9.2. I have a  Yamaha Air Surround bar from 8 years ago and it does so well in the bedroom I figure the "surround bars" have to have gotten close by now. All the speakers and wiring is such a pain anytime you want to change, move, or upgrade anything. I'm throwing in the complete HT towel next time I need a receiver. 1
