Dion Watters
Was it very common to use the 2018 styling on 2019 with a Mfg date of 11/19? Are there any other older component issues I should be aware of that might fall into 2018 recalls ect?
lapoolboy
Yes, it's a "Legacy" model. 2019 model year but 2018 truck components. Recalls are VIN-based so you are good there. When buying accessories though, you will want to select those for old body style (2018). Edited December 29, 2019 by lapoolboy

Thomcat
Legacy 2019 = rebranded old old gen discontinued 2018, sort of like painting black stripes on a white horse and selling it as a "legacy" zebra. GM has pulled this crap before, running out old stock of parts and assemblies and delaying costs for retooling for '15 Malibus continuing to slap them together and labeling it a Traditional '16 Malibu sold alongside the "new" 'next gen 16 Malibus. Personally I applaud their marketing department..."legacy" has a nice rich heritage feel as opposed to discontinued or "old gen". One thing is certain a legacy '19 Silverado look like the old '16 Silverado; a new gen '19 Silverado will look like the new '21 Silverado. Just a guess, maybe its is a plant location thing running out old stock of '18s there and delay retooling for the new gen models.........never saw a new '19 Silverado with a Canadian "2" VIN.....majority of dealers in this area have U.S. "1"s with a smattering of Mexican "3"s. Proof is the how you order parts for one of these carryover vehicles because majority of the parts for the new gen will not fit the same year legacy model. And GM also pulled this crap running out stock of discontinued AFM V8, 6 speeds dumping them in their lower line '19+ models and placing the new DFM V8, 8 speeds in the higher lines.
Dion Watters
Thank you Thomcat. I am slightly worried I've gotten myself into some problems with model/year parts issues down the road but I really like the body style of the 18s. Especially the fenders. I really liked the looks on my '16 also, but then the new '19 offered an RST model with a similarly attractive but more frisky front end and new DFM V8 8 speed with the same front and 6 full lens CREE LED headlamps and taillights instead of 2 HID shutter projectors and filament bulbs. My '16 saw me take her for a spin and said to me "what has she got that I haven't got?". And the '19 responded "I'm younger and peppier, smoother, brighter, a knockout with attractive features and skin, a lot more more rubber where it counts, easier access to the rear and my Nav will never let me astray!". Then I realized, I'm in love, time to leave the old nag in the used car retirement lot and takeoff with the younger model. Originally I liked the older fenders too, but like attractive lingerie, its not the appearance but what's inside that counts......and the new 22's are larger than the old knobby 17's and give much better performance when wet. I so want to upgrade for some headlamps that would actually allow me to see at night again. Been almost 5 years now driving a truck with sub standard lighting and that is after replacing everything with leds, my 05 was better as these projector lamps in the 14 models are trash!
