2020 Sierra Denali - It's The Little Things (Computer & Gadgets)

Recommended Posts

There are a few things I want to change about the Denali - love it to death, but if you have any suggestions in these areas, let me know:

1. Disable camera off while driving
2. Change auto headlight sensitivity & timing (I hate being under a bridge or in a tunnel and the headlights come on)
3. Soft close doors
4. Turn signal mirrors
5. Rain sensing wipers
6. Alcantara headliner
7. Jacket hooks on B pillars
8. Turn off yellow amber lights

If anyone knows how or what program to use for changing the accessory programming let me know!

I don't think there is much you can do with any of your requests. Maybe an Upholstery shop can help with the headliner. All of the upgrades you seem to be looking for was everything I had on my Audi Q7, for sure not in an american truck.

I traded in my Audi S8 for the Denali to lower my cost of ownership and these are the things I really miss a lot. They sound silly, but nothing screams luxury like the smallest details.

I found a place that can do soft close doors. I am talking to a local shop to see if we can retrofit the rain sensing wipers.

Headliner, I'm sure an upholstery shop can do, but I'd like to see if I can buy a shell for the liner before I use mine for experimentation.

I'm determined to make this thing perfect for a 10 year ownership experience. I mean, hell, Hondas come with these things standard (wipers at least).

As a FYI, in order to get the headliner out you need to remove the windshield

Without kinking the headliner, doubt it. To do it right, the windshield comes out, then the camera needs to be recalibrated after re-assembly. I wouldn’t gut a new truck over it, but moot point anyway...that headliner is back ordered nationwide from the lovely window leak. But hey, maybe if you dumpster dive at a dealer you can find a water stained one they pulled out. ?

I don’t think anyone here has done anything on your list yet, so you might be cutting the trail on your own. Good luck though!

Thanks!! Wouldn’t be the first time I’m trail blazing on a vehicle.

I’ve got someone already working on the rain sensing wipers and the soft close doors. Looks like we’ll be pulling some odd parts from the Yukon to do it

Lmk how the rain-sensing bit goes. It's one of the few things i was disappointed didn't come on the T1. Once you've experienced reliable rain sense wipers (came from a '16 CTS), it's hard to go back. It's a luxury, i know. A pretty nice one though.

Yeah, but once you experience effed up functioning ones you'll never want them again.

[wifes buick] What, it started raining?

Let me move the wipers to the middle of the windshield and leave them sit there for the next three minutes, then Ill stow them and shut them off completely.

Maybe try again in five minutes or tomorrow.[/wifes buick]

It's interesting that we had different experiences from 2 different GM vehicles. I would have thought the Buick and Cadillac would share the same system. Maybe i got lucky because the rain-sense on my CTS was rock solid reliable. Probably the only reliable thing on that car, lol.

In response to "8. Turn off yellow amber lights"

Unfortunately there is no way to do this electronically. I was able to code them off on our BMW X5M but that would not work on the T1.   I found a work around but it involves sending off your headlights to https://www.fastheadlights.com.  They will open them up and place a cover over the amber running light preventing the light from emitting.  From there they will replace the amber lens with a clear and reseal.  I've had them for almost a year and the reseal has been bullet proof.  Absolutely no fogging or condensation.  In my opinion it really cleans up the front end.  It can be done on the Sierra as well.  Pics below:

Looks beautiful! I had the same thing done on my Audi S8 3c75a86929afd0f108afb9dfdd28bbe5.png

It was $600 to have it done though. How much did you pay for yours?

The S8 came out clean.  I worked with Phil Sheridan the owner of Fast Headlights directly.  It was only $300 but the shipping was really expensive as these lights are huge and you want to insure them.  You also have to be patient since your truck will be out of commission for a few weeks while the work is being done.
