just got my truck back yesterday from dealer after they FINALLY got my replacement USB in...Android Auto now works (fingers crossed)
so it COULd be possible that others having this issue may also have a shot usb socket...worth pursuing with dealer (my phone/cable worked on my wife's ride, so i knew it was something with my truck, dealer was cool with it in OCTOBER when issue popped up, took this long to get the part tho!)

So this is my second vehicle (2019 Honda Pilot, 2020 Silverado) with android auto / car play.  I have a note 9 and on both vehicles I had trouble getting android auto to work. my wife has a iphone and worked fine.  I would go through the setup on my phone and everything was fine, then I would get a message saying to unplug and reconnect my phone, and I would get a red error screen on my phone.  Honestly I don't know what the problem was, but after closing all my apps a few times and connecting and reconnecting it finally decided to work. No issues since.  Same issue on both vehicles.  I don't know what to tell you.

My galaxy 8 loaded ok. Worked for a minute then lost signal and kept trying to reconnect.

I tried most troubleshooting steps.  Non worked.

Cleaned my phone port with electraklean and a paper towel. And it popped right up. Has about 2 hours of good runtime so far.

I have a Galaxy Note 9 and I kept getting the same red error screen keep popping up with the regular USB port, whether i used the one in the console or the one below the AC controls.  I tried multiple cords that I knew were good, but no luck.  Fortunately, I switched to the USB-C port and no issues since.  Very well could be an issue with some of the regular USB ports that gm uses
