Aahhh! the good old HME cabs, they are definetly roomy, but a few things to look for, due to their school bus design they tend to forget to put in a cross member up front which is part of everyones spec. but seems to not make it to the assembly line, we had two a work with these problems(I'm sure that they have fixed this problem), also watch the area around the cab latching system, after a few thousand miles they may become very sloppy and even tear the metal latch(like before, sure it is fixed by now). We have 2 twin HME's at work that have went from front line pieces to outlying house first due, just like any other new apparatus the do have some quirks to work out, they have actually been trouble free for a couple years now. Good luck and nice looking piece.

Thanks for the heads up . :nono:

We have another HME truck (the ladder a central states) same cab configuration as this one (1871 p2 6man ) even has the same engine just the trans is a heavier duty model .

No problems with that truck so far (besides a tranny reprogramming) and we've had it a lil over three years .

I just began to notice that the hme trucks do look a hell of a lot like the thomas buses  when looking at some our towns buses that have same front end as our trucks with the exception of the grille cause the radiator is in the rear for the buses

and the newest buses that look exactly like the 1871 Sle chassis

Got to drive it this morning (4am yawner :D )code3 to an automatic alarm at a mini mart (ended up being an alarm malfunction) .

This thing really gets up and hauls ass for being 44,000 pounds got on that mechaincal qb2 and just let out a biggrin as it wound up .

When we got back from the false alarm one of our recruits told me "you should have seen the look on your face when the siren started to yell you looked like a kid a christmas"

I guess you can say I enjoyed my first time driving this to a call i have rode a few times but oh man what a different feeling to drive a new piece of apparatus code3

If you cant tell I was excited :nono:

thanx

Pierce rigs are nice but too much $$$

We go with low bids here :D some say it will come back to bite ya well our 12 yr old engine has not had a single problem yet besides a short in a rear beacon and the 3 yr old ladder only needed a tranny reprograming

We could have got 2 of these engines for what it costs for one pierce
