I know this can vary but I was trying to see if there was a consensus out there for when the best time to buy a Sierra 1500 is. I am asking because I’m shopping for a 2020 and have not been happy with the prices I’m getting and was wondering if I would likely do better in the spring

November has traditionally been a really good month followed by left over inventory until sold. The current model years and financing to pick up in Spring.  But it truly depends on quarterly truck sales. If they are selling the rebates will be lighter in the spring if they are not selling then they will increase until they get to a solid floor number. If you're shopping price only and not worried about getting a 20 with the 10 speed transmission then now is the time, if you really want the 10 Speed, I think spring will be better.

Well on the 2019s there were little, if any, rebates or incentives until late spring.

But they seem to be playing ball a little more on the 2020s already since it’s not a new body style. Also of note...around here, there’s nowhere near as many 2019s lingering as there were 2018s leftover last year. That might help chances of getting a decent deal on a 2020 but I wouldn’t expect to be stealing it.

There’s really not a better time of year any more. Sure, some dealers will be more aggressive during the year-end with current year models. But, honestly, what I paid for my 2019 RST in the middle of March 2019 is still the best price most guys are getting as we end the year.

Isn't GM offering employee discount for everyone from now to the end of the year.  I do not know it is for in stock vehicles only or how it works.

The best time to buy is when you want or need a new truck and find the one you like.   You can wait around for a better price to come along for a truck you don't like as much or you can be enjoying your new truck now!

Or when you DONT need a new truck, and can walk away easily. My best deals were in early Feb and April in the past against all I was told. Usually a lot of inventory built up then, and Im sure there will be another random "truck month" coming soon...

Traditionally it has always been the last week of the year.

Dealers like to clean up their books and move any thing deemed dead stock, new or used, and the employee pricing does help with that on the new side.

When they have the MSRP sales or Employee pricing.

I bought my 2019 brand new in July and I got 13,500 off for their MSRP sale, they do it twice a year. And they have Employee pricing once a year

Here in Alberta anyways, can't speak for other places.

What kind of prices are you seeing that your not happy with? I got a 2020 SLT 1500 4x4 that stickered for 55.6k for 41.6k plus TTL. Purchased 11/22/2019. That's 25% off on a new model. Similar to what 19's are going for.
