L86 6.2 Intake Cover Removal - Why?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just purchased a used 2016 Denali 1500 Crew Cab L86 6.2 last week. When I purchased it, there was a box in the backseat (yes, I thought it was weird also). I knew it was an intake cover by looking at it, so I didn't pay it much attention to it as those things are normally super easy to get on and off.

Then I looked at it closely when I got it home.....=]

So, reading these forums I have seen a couple of posts where people are deliberately taking them off. Can anyone tell me why? It may convince me that I don't need to fool with getting this thing back on the intake runners.

Thanks!

Not sure it's purpose, but I'm pretty sure you have to remove the intake to out the cover on. Either that or you're gonna have to do some trimming to allow it to clear the cowl. The first time I removed my intake it tried removing the cover first and discovered it wasn't possible nor necessary. However I have a 5.3 so it's possible the 6.2 is different.
