In cab filtr

Recommended Posts

I know the GMT800's were like that, but I thought the GMT900's all had them.  It was a feature that sounds good at the time, but most people forget to replace the filter (or don't even know it has one) and then it gets plugged up or possibly moldy if water happens to get on it .

There is a kit GM sells to put one in if you want one. My used 2008 I purchased didn't have one.
Its not bad to install. Its has been in for about a year. I should check it.

It is under dash on passenger side.
If there is a filter there is a cover that snaps off. If no cover you need kit & will cut out an opening for filter.

RockAuto and Amazon sell the retrofit kit that either comes with the door or the door and new filters. I have bought 3D printed ones in the past but I can’t find the guy that has the engineering drawing for it. You’ll have to take a razor and slice open the rectangular opening. It’s not a hard just. Just be patient and score it precise before going to town. I just changed out the cabin filters in my ‘02 (i believe 100% of the 99-02 came with the cabin filter doors already installed) and the filter was original. Was disgusting.

ok  So I can officially say that I had a chance to get down under the dash and look real good and I am 100% positive there is no filter under the dash or behind the glove compartment and it also looks like I cannot put it in from the side because of the dash being in the way it is all molded plastic one piece it looks like I’m gonna have to go in from the bottom and put a filter in that way with some kind of aftermarket set up.Has anybody else had to do this.

Yes, no filter in the 07-13 Silverado/GMC.

Here is my video doing a retro fit. I think the SUV received the factory filter only.

Easy to do if you live in an area needing a filter. GM was heavy on the cutbacks for this model of truck.

You can get a carbon filter and a paper filer.
