Normal vs. Sport

Has anyone seen any differences between the “normal” setting vs. the “sport”? Started out in sport when I bought mine a month ago and have been driving in normal the past week. Gotta say, in my opinion, I like sport better... to me it seems smoother, especially in the low end and more responsive. I think I’m going to change back tomorrow morning. Haven’t seen a difference in mpg though, anyone else?

curious on thoughts....

thx

There’s no acceleration difference, I’ve tested back and forth with my performance meter and it’s in the same 0-60 time range either way. It might sharpen throttle response a bit at lower throttle inputs but doesn’t actually add anything to WOT. Not saying it’s advertised to do so either...

I find the shift points in sport mode to be irritating in normal city driving, it holds onto gears too long and makes too much noise with my exhaust. I do like the tightened steering feel though.

Probably won’t be a massive economy difference either way but normal mode should have an advantage there.

totally notice difference, steering gets firmer and engine rpms are higher...…..steering is where I notice the most!

truck feels more "under pressure" and not as loose......steering is where I notice the most, more effort to do same task.....youll catch what I am saying if you pay attn

I use it on hwys or sections that are bumpy as steering isn't as loose......if your on smooth asphalt probably hard to notice.....I raced motocross for years so am very sensitive to minor changes in mechanical forms, concrete fwys with bumps and expansion joints its night and day to me

look at your rpm guage when you switch....youll see it ramp up

for me I notice steering mostly

Feel the same thing. That’s why I said sports feel smoother... I can feel all that you’re saying in just a week using normal....

I felt it the second I switched over to it, to me it was pretty drastic right away

Is your truck only in sport mode if the green checkered flag is showing? I can switch it to sport, drive, cut truck off, turn it back on and the sport mode will still be selected but the flag isn’t showing unless I cycle through the options back to sport. I’ve been wondering this. I also read in the manual that if the truck does not notice any “sporty” type driving after a certain period tod time, it automatically switches back to normal driving mode.

I get best mpg in sport vs normal.
I was curious about this, I'm in a 2.7l and while it's very torquey, I feel like the shift points in normal aren't quite optimized and I'm wondering if sport mode might fit my driving style a little better. I wanted to run the first tank through normal and then get the next full tank on sport to see if there's any tangible difference mpg wise.

Wow, I’m only getting about 15 mpg in normal... guess I need to start remembering to put it in sport every time I get in....
