Exhaust flapper valve on 2019+

Recommended Posts

Pardon me for posting this thread twice, the first time was in the wrong section...

i have a new 2019 Lt Trail Boss.  On my 2018 Z71 that I gave to my wife, I deleted the muffler and exhaust valve and welding in a straight pipe, love the sound.  But I was able to disable the AFM with first a Range box, and then later with a SuperChips performance tune.  So no weird 4 cyl exhaust note...

How do I do that on the 2019?  If I delete the muffler, should I leave the exhaust flapper in because I don't have a way to disable the AFM?  Or is it safe to do, as I see several of the catback systems removing all that crap?

Figured I would ask and cut once and do it right the first time...  haha

Well, I just went ahead and deleted the muffler and flapper yesterday, I got impatient.  Sounds great.  I just clamped a link pipe in place for now, and later in the week I will go and have a piece of metal pipe welded in properly...

Not as loud as my 2018 which is odd, because they are the same motor with the same mod.  But the 2018 has a shorter single exhaust and the TB has the dual outlets.  It's fairly loud when I stomp on the gas, but it's fairly quiet at idle and when rolling down the road cruising.  The 2018 drones a bit and is always loud...

So I kinda like the balance here...
