Transmission Front and rear Diff and 4x4 Fluids

Recommended Posts

I just turned 100K on my 2011 2500 and decided to do the Transmission Flush with the other recommended items, Front and Rear Diff, and 4x4 Service.  When i got the truck back from the Dealer it has a hesitation in the lower gears and in Reverse.  I headed out of town for the weekend, came back and still same issue.  So I took it back in and they said I needed a transfer case replacement.  They have dropped the fluid again and it had metal pieces in it.  So they replaced the Transfer case and I am still having this hesitation like the tire is breaking free.   Any ideas on what this might be?  I have an extended warranty, so cost is minimal to me but very frustrating after the flush this just started?   Any help or direction is much appreciated.

To me, it sounds like:

a) they botched the job, like they may have not filled the transfer case at all or with enough fluid

b) flushing the transmission may have worked some crap that has built up in the transmission free, and now it's buggering up how the transmission is working.  It's also possible they used the wrong fluid in the rear diff (if you have a G80), and the clutches aren't happy (while it is a mechanical locker, it also has some clutches to ease the engagement and reduce the shock to the system).  You/they might consider adding a bit of limited slip differential additive to it to see if it makes a difference (it won't hurt anything, even if you don't have a G80).
