cab lights

Recommended Posts

I have a 2003 SIERRA SLE 2500 HD with the snow plow prep package so it has the dash mounted light switch which now does nothing. I plan to add a bull bar and some KC lights and I want to use this switch.

Has anyone else done this? I haven't looked for the switch wiring yet, can someone tell me where it is?

Thanks!

Thanks HD,

I guess I'll have to get under the dash and intercept those wires. I plan to add the KC lights on a bar in front of the bumper. Any easy ideas on doing this?

I was hoping that there might be some wiring under the hood for snow plow mounted lights?

:D

Help Please!

I started looking at how to get at the wires behind the switch (next to air bag switch), and it looks like it's impossible without taking the dash apart. (see my above post)

Does anyone know how to get at the switch?

How does the dash come apart?

I'm afraid to start prying and break something.

You may want to check with Jason Pendlum of JP Customs on that one. He had some lighting diagrams that my install shop used to put Hella's up front and KC's in the back of my Rado. I used the factory style switches in the 4 switch pod housing for them.

If you click on my id there is a picture of my '02 SilverHD with the factory cab lights. Mine is a regular cab so you can get an idea of what your truck should look like. I prefer the factory cab lights for which ever model year that it could be (i.e. '77 lights on '73-'87, '88 lights on '88-'00, etc. etc.). If you deceide to go with the '88-'00 lights I don't think that this would degrade the looks of your truck any, because the cab is shaped about the same as the older ones. Just stay away from the gawdy chrome aftermarket ones. :seeya:

Somewhere on this forum a guy put cab lights on his '01 or '02 using the factory outboard (single) '02 lights for all five places. Didn't look factory, but it did look pretty good. Although I think he had to dig deep in that wallet if I remember correctly. :jester:

There is two more places that I know of that has the correct cab lights for the '01 and newer trucks.

The first is good ole JCWhitney, the other is a company called LMC Truck,(www.lmctruck.com). The part number is 38-1071, for LMC, and the price is $69.95, for all three lights, a universal wiring harness, plus some mounting hardware. I don't know what JCWhitney's P/N is, or price, but I think the web site is www.jcwhitney.com?.

What I do know is that these look to be the factory cab light, but do not come with the factory harness. If you want a factory harness, you'll have to get it from GM. (I highly recommend) Check out the sources that CC2500HD posted, and price shop, -good luck! :D
