To BANDPASS or not

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I have a 20 year old, yes 20 year old Bazooka 10" tube that I just put a new Pioneer sub into, and am thinking something along the lines of a bandpass box would best fit into my extended cab pickup. I am not looking for anything pricy or custom fit, I am just having a hard time finding the right enclosure for the speaker as the bazooka is way too big for behind the seat action. Any ideas on where to find a decent slant back bandpass box? Thanks

Crutchfield might have something, but I doubt it.

You will most likely not find any band-pass boxes that will fit back there...If you do, they will not be bigger than 8 inchers.

There might -and I stress might- be enough room back there to fit some reg-cab truck boxes with eight inch woofers back there. But I doubt it.

Best bet is for a down-firing sealed enclosure under the rear seat. You can pick them up for pretty cheap most of the time. You can get a single, or double (like mine) box for around $100 brand new. Used, there is no telling. Singles only take half the space, so you retain some under-seat storage.

MTX makes enclusures that will hold a single 10" and only take up half of the space under the rear seat:

MTX Thunderform

I've got the one that holds 2 10"s and takes up both sides. I'd tell you to go into Soundmart, but they've closed up shop. Circuit City sells MTX or find somebody online. Here's one on Ebay don't know if its the right color for you:

Where'd you find a single downfiring enclosure that fits under an extra cab seat for a 2002? Anything would help, the bazooka is huge back there.

There is a local stereo shop here that has piles of them. My 2 woofer enclosure cost about one bill. I think the singles are a little less. My neighbor bought one, and it sounds great. And he only has a Pioneer 10" sub with about 100 watts going to it.

Of course it aint nothing like to 10" Kicker Comp V/Rs with over 700 going into them.

I don't think they have a website, but their number is: (405) 736-0027

You should be able to walk into any car audio shop, and they should have them in stock....Of course, when I say car audio shop....I do NOT mean Best Buy, Circuit City, Tweeter, Ultimate Electronics, Soundtrack ect. I mean a dedicated car audio place....The kind of place that deals ONLY in car audio/video setups. Most of them will have boxes like this laying around in piles.
