If possible could you please give us a brief description on what the dealer did and if the whole rear window has to come out?  I had a bad experience with my selling dealership, don’t really wanna go back there ....

The technician checks contacts to see if there a problem .They look for burnt contacts .They will change contacts , replace the fuse and reprogram the computer. If it is burnt they  will also replace the rear window in addition to the contacts. The service advisor said only 2/150 had to replace rear window.

For me, my rear window is intact and I plan on keeping it that way. My biggest concern is that my 5 year old son rides back there a lot and I want to keep him out of danger. I pulled the #10 fuse tonight and will probably keep it that way. Hardest thing was figuring out how to get that underhood fuse cover opened. Next hardest was trying to figure out where the #10 fuse was. The fuse numbers were scattered all over the place. I'd sure like to have a conversation with whoever came up with the fuse numbering system...

Thanks for the info....hopefully m6 window doesn’t have to be replaced.  Just fear the thought of not having a quality installation done that’s like factory.  Gonna try and get into the dealership sooner than later....

I have a 2018 and haven’t heard anything or received a notice. I pulled the fuse months ago. I paid out of pocket to have my rear window tinted. Guessing GM isn’t going to reimburse for replacement window to be tinted.

You live in the US.  Hasn't been recalled here.

Curious why it would only be a recall in Canada? I’m in the US but my used ‘18 was first sold in Canada.  I called my local dealer, he looked it up, saw it listed but said he hasn’t done one yet but to bring it in.

Demand that they give you a loner, so that you can get to/from work while they have it.

Had my 17 in to have the fuse removed in the fall.  In my case, the dealer wasn't too proactive about letting me know (when a fix was avail) when I could bring my truck in for the update.  I stopped at a different dealership while out of province, done, no bs.  Both times, in and out less than a half hour.  Can't be too much to it.  My 2010 model didn't have half the recalls this model did, throughout the 8 years I owned it.

Just had the recall done and the work order says 1 22917202 25300 fuse, 1 84819605 164640 window, 1 84819606 164640 window.  Performed recall, replaced rear bus bar covers, terminal covers and fuse. Verified heat damage not present.  HVAC programming not applicable.

The issue is that it rained like crazy last night and this morning my entire headliner along the back window from side to side was completely soaked.

Sound like the tech messed up.  Take it back and make sure it is entered in your profile.  I'd write GM while you are at it in case something happens with your vehicle as a result of the water damage.  Other truck owners have experienced water damage from the satellite antenna being replaced, tech bulletin.

I have a 18 GMC Sierra with rear defroster and power rear window . I have not received recall in mail or did dealer mention anything when they checked for recalls when  I was in middle of last month for inspection. My Sierra was built Last week of November 18 if that matters. Is this limited to certain VIN or all vehicles with rear window defroster and power window? Or only in Canada ? Strange if in Canada and not USA !

Last I heard, it's only in Canada, for now/so far.  I'm sure that if enough USA truck owners have the same issue, it'll make its way into the USA.

Looks like they finally did the recall for USA. I haven't got anything in the mail but

I got the OnStar email a few days ago but just noticed the recall. They must finally have a fix other than pulling the fuse. Ive had my window open once for about a minute BTW.

So this morning on my way to work I got this “burning

plastic smell and about a minute later it sounded like a gun shot went off.  The left side of the rear window shattered.  So later on I call the dealer to make an appointment to fix the window and an outside vendor does it. He stated that my truck 6 months ago received the recall “fix”. That’s funny, because it didn’t prevent or solve the problem.  Back to the dealer to start some ass chewing.

by the way, this is on my 2014 GMC 1500 All Terrian.
