Unable to fill gas tank

Recommended Posts

Recently I had trouble in getting the gas nozzle into the gas tank to refill.

The problem is that dirt and debris  and water getting into the gas filer pipe.

In western Canada the weather and dust gets into the gasless filler opening .

Once water get past the first flap and is stopped by the second flap it freezes and you are up a river with out a paddle if you have to refuel .

Great just 1800 off warranty and for some reason the garage had the part in stock.

This is a problem and will allow dirt and water getting into the fuel tank.

We need some kind of cap over the opening to prevent this,

The gas cap offered by Chevrolet looks nice but will not work.

I have never heard of or seen this happen before. I have spent time in Western Canada during the winter time and never has happened. It has never happened before back home in North Eastern Alaska. I say you just have some weird bad luck.

I ordered a 2015 Filler tube and cap for my 2018 2500 to replace the "cap-less" setup. A local logging company lost a fuel pump on their 2017 and the mechanic said there was about 1/2" of fine dirt and dust on the bottom of the 2 year old truck's fuel tank that caused the pump to fail. GM just saving themselves $1 during manufacturing and ending up creating a $1,000 service bill for you.
