Gear swap

Recommended Posts

Looking to possible regear my 2017 GMC 1500 4x4 running 35" tires.  Currently it has 3.42 gears getting between 14 and 17.5 mpg. If I read the charts correctly, I should be running 4.10 gears to get back close to OEM settings, since 3.90 is not available for 4x4. Anyone else running 4.10s on a lifted truck?

I’m running 4.56’s with a 7” lift on 35’s. Best money I’ve spent on the truck yet.

What kind of gas mileage you getting?  What year truck and is it a 4x4? What size lift and tires are you running?

I'm very interested in this as well. I'm running a 4" lift with 35" with the factory 3.42 gears. Looking to go with 4.56 gears to help with the downshifting at the slightest hills on the highway. I got quoted $2,800 for front and rear gear swap to Yukon. Just waiting to save up the funds.

Well worth the money. I paid $2250 for the swap and used Yukon gears.

yeah I'm talking about guys with the rear peg legger.  seen so many vids on YT about locker installs on the open diff carriers on trucks , its the easiest part to install for traction. as long as you dont hit the throttle on a  hard turn they are decent mods for simple traction

there are a couple flywheel mods for the G80 gov lock, you'll have to try those at your own risk. basically it keeps the govlock locked up past 30mph,
