Wix 57045 oil fillter from Rock Auto. $5.82 each shipped.
6 quarts per change.
3 K OCI.
$28.95 per change.
The Castrol Edge has Titanium as stated. Worth it?

That’s awesome, OCI’s at 3K will definitely help keep the mechanic away lol. What oil filter are you using? I switched to Wix XP and later informed it has a a 20-21 micron only when higher mileage applied. I’m thinking of going the Napa Gold route

I’ve thought about having the dealership do mine as well but not after hearing horror stories of either using cheap recycled oil, not actually doing it, didn’t put exact amount etc.
Seems so much easier but just not worth the worries so I either do it myself or take it somewhere and give them $20 labor but almost always do it myself especially since it’s so much easier being lifted.

That’s understandable. I know a few of the folks in the back. I trust them (although I still mark my tires and look at my washer fluid before/after). I mainly like the paper trail.

I keep a log on all my vehilces.

Everything done to a vehicle is logged.

Amen to that! I write down everything I do to my vehicle right on the back pages of the manual. From name of oil to OCI’s, mileage of time of front and rear Diff change as well as transfer case too AND cabin air filter too lol

Penny a mile.

Today’s oils are pretty good but for not even a penny extra per mile, the boutique oils look damn good but not really needed if you run short 3-4K OCI’s.

Now we're cooking with gas!

Closest GM Dealer is 110 miles and has SUV/Truck oil changes listed for $99.95 for reference.

I have always done my own, good piece of mind and saves a couple bucks. I just did one a few weeks ago on the Silverado and it ran me $54.13.

Breakdown of the recent oil change: 8 qts of Mobil 1 0w20 ($5.60/qt) and a PF63 filter ($9.33). Prices are likely higher due to being in Alaska... everything is marked up. I do them every 5k miles as an extra precaution given the harsh environment, I usually have 20-30% left on the cluster.

There definitely a sense of relief/satisfaction doing your own oil changes. I do my own too.

Just spoke with my dealership, you’re right! It’s high, said $79 for full synthetic (plus disposal fee which they sell the used oil anyway) with GM filter and tire rotation plus extra for balancing. I’m at $90 with boutique oil and filter, don’t know if you’d call a Wix XP filter a boutique oil filter lol but Discount Tire gives me life time free rotation and balance, can’t beat that especially with a lifted truck and 34” tires and pain in the butt to take off wheels and locks.

That’s excessive but completely respectable! [emoji1303]

Yeah. My wife says I’m crazy. But sometimes the smallest things can pay off in the long run. I also enter all my maintenance in the car fax app so when it’s time to sell its easy to sell privately. I never trade. When I post them dealers actually call me wanting to buy. [emoji23]

That’s awesome! I’ve never thought about that, You should start a new thread about it.
