Lost reverse & OD

Recommended Posts

Saturday night while driving around town I heard a clunk in the trans but didn't think nothing about it since it was stilll shifting fine. I stopped at a store for a drink, got back in the cranked her up and threw it in reverse but no response  . Tried a couple more times and still nothing  . Pushed the truck out of the parking spot and headed over to a friends house. Truck isn't shifting right with no OD and the SES light is on..........wonderful :chevy:

Truck has 72k on it and this is really the first serious problem I've had.

Hooked it up to the computer this morning at work.....says shift solenoid A is stuck on or something. Fixin to drop the pan and take a look. Hope its not full of metal  .

Bad news......trans is gone. We replaced a couple of shift solenoids and it didn't fix anything :) . Pan had a little metal in it but nothing too serious. Talked with a couple of trans shops and they said if it won't go in reverse that something is broke inside the tranmission. Ordered exchange from GM this morning.

I'm really disapointed in the 4l60e, figured I could at least make it to 100k. It really doesn't matter what brand you drive with a 1/2 ton automatic they all seem equally reliable  .
