Rough Country Leveling Kit for Trail Boss?

Recommended Posts

Sorry, was to dark when I got home yesterday to take pics.

Level kit turned out really good.  Didn't put a tape measure on it, but defiantly passes the eye test.

I got this kit, because it was specific for the Trail Boss, not that others aren't or don't work.  One thing to note, and I don't know if this is the same with the other kits or not, is that the spacer goes in the middle of the strut, not the top or bottom, so the guys at the shop had to take of the shock, compress it, etc... just more labor, as opposed adding a top spacer as I have on other vehicles.

Also, I noticed that the ball joint on the upper a-arm is a lot closer now to the tire.... not a problem now, but when I eventually want to go up to something around a 35" tire, either have to stay skinny (like 285/75R 18) or maybe get new upper arms to change the angle... which is probably what I'll end up doing, instead of buying new wheels with a different offset; I like the factory black wheels.  All that said, this isn't a Rough Country kit issue, what little I've been able to find, it looks like with any lift, people are running into the ball joint issue if they go up to 35x12.50 tires and stick with stock wheels... just something to keep in mind.

Anyway, here's a pic I snapped this evening..

Looks good...how much was labor?

I had a couple things done at the same time, but I'd say labor was probably $300 - $350 for the install of the leveling kit, which included a alignment.

Will let you know in about 2 hours.... getting it put on now.  Along with Brola exhaust.

How does the new exhaust sound? What did that run you for parts and labor?

I was going back and fourth between touring and s-type, leaning more towards the touring, until I listened to the videos in my truck, with its sound system.  Computer speakers and cell phone speakers just don't do it justice.... need to get those bass tones.  Super glad I went with the s-type, it's loudest at a could start, low/soft growl with driving in lower gears around town/in neighborhood, at highway speeds you can't really tell it's there, until you press on the gas to accelerate or pass someone.  I'm in my late 30's and didn't want to go all high school on the exhaust, but super happy I went with the s-type the deep tones are nice and rich, and should really mellow out over time, and it's not obnoxiously loud.  And absolutely zero drone at highway speeds.

I had Summit price match at $1,750 for the exhaust, and labor was right around $150 because I had them weld it all in, instead of using the clamps and other bullsh*t.

Here's a cold start clip.
