2020 Silverado 6.6 Gas LT

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon!

Noticed this morning after using my remote start, it didn't kick on the heated steering wheel.  Thought, okay it might not be cold enough, though my seat warmers were on.  Drove down the road some and attempted to turn on the heated steering wheel via the button on the steering wheel but it did not light up nor did the steering wheel warmed up.  Was thinking the light was out?

I've checked the F22 7.5 fuse on the right side instrument fuse panel and it appeared to not have blown visually, but at this point after re-seating, it continues to not work.

Anyone with experience have any other ideas for me to try?  I've tried turning the steering wheel back and forth to its full extent while hitting the button but that didn't work either.

Any ideas would be great!  Thank you so much in advance!

Mine works and it should turn on with the switch or remote start in cold weather.

Sounds like a trip to the dealer ?

Thank you for the reply!

Yup, I have a 3:30 pm appointment with the dealer on Saturday.  I'll respond back just in case others have the same issue in the future.

Thank you!

My Silverado LT 6.6 Gas turns on the heated steering wheel with the remote start and I can feel that much faster than the heated seats, even though I only let it run with the remote start for about a minute or less. My steering wheel heater does turn on with the button as well, which I've done several times after getting in the truck and "starting" it. I know there is a setting in the options menu to have the heated seats turn on with the remote, do you have the option turned on? Even though it should turn on and off with the button anytime.

Thank you all for the replies!

That was one of my concerns that other buttons were not functioning as well, but I've confirmed they all do except for the button used to turn on the heated steering wheel.  I did change out the 7.5 fuse but that didn't work either.  What I've read so far is that on the older models, there is another fuse in the steering wheel column, but I'll let the dealership work that out.  I hope that is what is going on here.  It did work the day before without issue.

Anyways, thank you all again and I'll report back on Sunday.

It was an insecure connection in the steering wheel area behind the airbag.  Easy repair and now everything is working like it once did.  Also had the recall work done as well:

Recall Title:

Seatbelt Pretensioner Fire

Recall Description:

General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2019 – 2020 model-year Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles and in certain 2020 model-year Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500/3500 vehicles built with carpet floor covering (RPO B30). In certain crashes that cause the front seatbelt pretensioners to deploy, the exhaust from the deployed pretensioner may be diverted through an opening in the pretensioner bracket and ignite cotton fibers in the carpet floor near the B-pillar.

Safety Risk Description:

Following a crash that causes the seatbelt pretensioner to deploy, a fire may develop in the area near the B-pillar, which may increase the risk of injury.

Repair Description:

Dealers will install a feature that will close off the opening in the pretensioner bracket so that exhaust gasses vent away from carpet material as designed.

Thank you!
