Rear footwell lighting

Recommended Posts

So I was in a Yukon and noticed the rear seats were illuminated. I look under the seats and there were lights factory installed. On the front seats pointing back. I did this mod for the front foot wells but had now idea there were rear as well.

Exactly the same led as upfront only thing I am researching now is the connection. I looked at the upfitter for both Silverado and Yukon. Phil you there lol pin 46 is for the ambient lighting on the Yukon but unused obviously on the Silverado. I don’t have my truck right now to test if that pin is present in the seat to body plug.

Please post your findings with pictures if possible.

Saw the same thing when I was cleaning out the wife's 16 Tahoe LTZ, and thought it was another cool feature left off of the trucks.

If I recall, it is not present in the seat plug. I checked this some time a year ago and also bought a set to install. Lol. But never got around to it. If you end up doing it, post some pics ;). I’ll eventually get around to doing it.

For the front foot wells I bought 2 of these lights and the rat tails. I can find the thread on here how I did it. The mounts are on our trucks just like the Tahoe/Yukon. There not bright by any means but they give a soft glow which is all I want. I don’t want daylight on my feet anyway lol.

I try to search, but apparently I have no idea how ??

I never seem to have luck with what I'm looking for.

That’s the light mounted on the front seat of a Yukon facing back. Once i get my truck back!!! Sore subject I will start the install. Either I will tap into the front 2 footwell lights or I will test pin 46 in the seat plug and see if the circuit is present truck side.

Awesome, I'll have to do the same. I imagine it's a headlights on kind of thing?

I see you said about doing it for the front foot wells as well. Where would that one mount? (At work ATM or I'd go out and route around and figure it out lol)

EDIT - I changed some search words and seem to have found the mod for the front footwell

I did the fronts awhile ago if you look under the dash drivers side. Where the heat/ac duct go there is a slot that’s where the light mounts to. Passengers side middle below the glove box same slot. Now the front I had to make a harness and run it to the BCM I can’t remember yellow wire coming out of the BCM X2 plug possibly. . If you found the thread it says it there. I think yellow wire +and grey - again don’t quote me it’s been awhile lol. It works with the headlights parking and also when you open the door.
