2019 GMC Sierra Issues

Recommended Posts

I have about 7,000 miles on my 2019 GMC Sierra.  I have had it in the shop for driver side front wheel bearing replacement. Then next was the blower motor which replaced last month.  I am no hearing a sound from inside the cab coming from the steering wheel column somewhere.  Sounds like rubber binding up when turning the steering wheel while idle at a slow speed in both directions. This evening when I got home from work and daughters softball lesson, there is now a sound under the truck which sounds like dripping water on something hot, very odd.  Not sure if it could be a rubber bind unwinding so to speak.  Cannot believe the issues I am having with this vehicle, very frustrating!

Thanks

I'm guessing since your in Texas that you had the A/C running? The one complaint early on with these trucks was. The a/c condensation drips on the exhaust now. Not sure why you have not heard this before though.

What are you looking to accomplish with this thread? Did you just join to vent? Not sure what the point of that was, two rogue issues that were fixed. The wheel bearing which could have been a failed part by the supplier and blower motor which could very easily be the same thing and they fixed that for you, so what is the problem? The other two aren't issues. Most cars if you listen can hear a faint noise from the clockspring, it is a wound cable like a phone chord that allows the steering wheel to receive power while making turns. Every car I have had makes a faint noise if it is quiet and you listen for it while turning. The hot water sound is just the AC dripping on the exhaust, again not a problem, just with more stuff going in these cars there is a chance it can find a path to the exhaust. Poor planning on the design front, we have had a few vehicles that have done that. Either way if you think that is bad, go check out the Ford or Dodge forums. Chances are the rest of the vehicle will be trouble free. It is funny the ordeal people make out of minor things, you would think the truck didn't start or left them stranded numerous times by the sounds of some of these complaint threads...

ITs a hard pill to swallow when you spend 50k on something that doesn't work right.

You ever buy a house in California? :)

Or you could one of those guys who blew his wad on a $500k Lamborghini who is now getting his car recalled....

Update to binding noise from steering column.

Took the truck to the dealership Monday to listen to the noise coming from the steering wheel. They are not sure what is going on with it yet,  they have contacted a GM  Technician.  They thought at first it was somehow linked to my brake pedal which is acting strange.  When I engage the brake pedal it has a springing  creaking  noise. If the truck is parked and I release the brake pedal it pops.  I do not think the two are related, but who knows.  Will update when I find out more.

Replace your rear brake caliper hardware and slide pin guides and this should resolve it. I had back and forth with my local dealer 3 times with the same issue until my super talented brother-in-law (who manages Pep Boys stores) identified the problem in 20 seconds. $50 and 30 minutes later he had resolved the issue. The creaking was so irritating but now I haven't heard it once in almost a month.

Thank you for your feedback. I called the dealership today and spoke with the Service Writer he said they had repaired the brake issue.  The issue they fixed was the brake reading incorrectly at 20%. I reminded him about the pedal and he wrote the information down, hopefully they get this corrected.

Thanks
