2019 High Country Polished Chrome Wheel - Curb Rash

All,

 

New owner of a 2019 Chevrolet High Country.  I came over from a Colorado and am loving it so far.  10 days into owning the vehicle, I dropped a co-worker off at the airport.  While approaching the curb and turning, I got too close and rubbed.    Still getting use to driving it, but none the less, it left a noticeable scar.

 

I called around to a few wheel repair shops near me and all of them basically told me - "we don't mess with polished wheels".  I ordered an OEM replacement to replace it, but now I want to find someone/anyone to repair this one and I'll keep it as a spare in case something happens again.

 

Any guidance?

It's not chrome but polished aluminum alloy with a clear coat.  They come up on ebay time to time.  There's a place called Detroit tire and Wheel who can fix that easily.  They probably have one in stock and will take yours as a core.  How much was a new one from GM?

One of the big down falls to big rims. My guidance, now is your chance to get smaller wheels so you don't have to be driving a truck on egg shells looking out for pot holes or staying far away from curbs. That's what cars do... Sell those and recoup most of the cost for a different set. Your ride will improve, tires will be cheaper, and if you stay the same size acceleration, braking and mpg will improve with the lighter setup.
